I should be packing ... at least Oakley's things, but instead I'm playing with my new camera!! Mike and the boys gave me a Canon Rebel XTi for my birthday last week, and I'm thrilled with it. I can zoom in much better now and I can't wait to use it in China to capture the beauty of Oakley's homeland.
So ... to test the quality, I'm posting new photos of Oakley's room, complete with window treatments.
We booked our round-trip flights to China on Wednesday. We will depart in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday, May 24 (5:50 am) and will return, with Oakley (I LOVE saying that) on Wednesday, June 6 at 9:59 pm. We still don't have all the in-China travel confirmed because they are on holiday through May 7. As soon as they return, we should have our itinerary confirmed.
Here's what we know so far:
May 24 - Depart the US (from Newark)
May 25 - Arrive in Beijing in the afternoon
May 26 - We'll spend time the next few days sightseeing in Beijing and adjusting to the time change
May 28 - GOTCHA DAY! -- travel to Fuzhou (capital city of her province, Fujian). Meet Oakley, our baby girl, for the very first time!!
June 4 - Visa appointment at the US consulate in Guangzhou
June 6 - Travel home (via Hong Kong)
As soon as we have our confirmed in-China itinerary, I'll be sure to post it. I haven't packed the first thing yet, but I'm accumulating quite a pile of "stuff".

LOVE the room!!! It's gorgeous! Have to say that I got to watch Caeleigh a bit today - she is such a doll - and it made me think of Oakley - we're praying for all of you!!!
Oakley's room is so pretty! She will love it, I'm sure! I'm very excited about your trip! I absolutely cannot WAIT to see pictures of Oakley with you at last!
Love,
Laine
Jana, Oakley's room is adorable. I know you can't wait to bring her home. What a blessing!!

Her room is SO beautiful! You did such a good job, my favorite part is the curtains.
Once you have traveled, I would LOVE to see a packing list. :-) With things you wished you would've taken more of or less of. That would be wonderful. I am like a packing list junkie, anything I can get my hands on I study and revise and obsess. lol.
Hi Jana!
I love Oakley's bedroom! Can't wait to see pictures of her in that room!
Excited for you!

When you have the time -- I would LOVE to hear more about your "Oakley gear." Such as the car seat, did you buy a stroller, etc. I am interested to see what an older child's "gear list" looks like as we are contemplating a WC and do not know which age we will matched with, and I always like to be prepared. Thanks!

Yes, I'd be happy to post our packing list with my "after thought" suggestions. And I'll also work on a "gear" posting. I will say that I'd seriously considered taking an ergo carrier, but given her age, size, and the heat index, I'm not sure how comfortable either of us would be. I may opt for just the stroller and plan to purchase one in China (to leave there) if our hotel doesn't have a loaner.

Yay....not too many more sleeps before you head to China!!! Oakley's room sure looks great...she will love it!!! I too will be interested in seeing your packing list. Since My daughter will most likley be 3.5 by time I get there. Happy packing!!
YIPEE! And ladies, you definitely want to see her packing list. :) She is a perfectionist and I would definitely go by her advice.
I can't wait to meet your girl!
On secind thought, you have great points about the Ergo, but my friend carrise her not-so-small 3 yr. old in it! Maybe it's worth a shot! It would be great for bonding, too!!
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
